About the WELSA Hearings Division
The WELSA Hearings Division serves as the Department's administrative trial court for cases involving the White Earth Reservation Land Settlement Act (WELSA). Through proceedings conducted by an administrative judge, the Division determines the heirs of persons who died entitled to receive compensation under the WELSA.
The Division is headed by an administrative judge and is located in OHA's Twin Cities office. Its decisions may be appealed to the Interior Board of Indian Appeals.
